On Sunday April 22nd, 2018 our Team TFS Virginia implemented a skills clinic for the GMBL (Manassas, Virginia) softball program. GMBL turned out more than 75 young softball players, while the majority of the participants were 11 and under.
"Team TFS Virginia saw this as an opportunity to give back to the sport we love by helping a neighboring youth organization get the season started off right! Additionally, it is great for the Team TFS athletes because while they are teaching, developing and mentoring younger athletes, they learn a ton in return." says Coach Ian Brown.
The Team TFS VA players were responsible for setting up and managing their own stations and teaching the lessons to the participants. The Team TFS leadership was there to help get set up, while the Team TFS VA players, which included players from the 12u, 14u, & 16u did the teaching and mentoring to the participants. Also invited to the event was Mr Brent Freeze who runs the Freeze Bullying for Payton! (Payton's Project). Payton's Project's goal is to strengthen current anti-bullying laws to offer better protections and improved resources in the state of VA. Overall - they had beautiful weather and the clinic was a great success. Truly life lessons though the sport of softball!
